We'll tell you what exactly is going on with your car and advise how to remedy the malfunction. Once we identified the nature of the problem, have it fixed by your own mechanic or by us. On-Board Diagnostics or OBD
On-Board Diagnostics, or OBD is a generic term referring to a vehicle's self-diagnostic and reporting capability.
OBD systems give the vehicle owner or a repair technician access to state of health information for various vehicle sub-systems.
This information is generated by the ECU or electronic control unit, meaning the computer of the car. Modern OBD implementations use a standardized fast digital communications port to provide realtime data in addition to a standardized series of diagnostic trouble codes, or DTCs,
which allow one to rapidly identify and remedy malfunctions within the vehicle. From 1996 onwards all cars in the United States adhere to OBD-II standards, in 2001 the European
Union made its EOBD standard mandatory.
Most Japanese cars have OBD-II installed. However, not all car brands use the same OBD connector. Opti-Ride not only uses a state of the art scanner, but has all the plugs,
cables and connectors needed for all the different car models.
